Training & Outreach
Community engagement and public education are important to Nassau's Emergency Management Program. We work with residents, homeowners' associations, civic groups, non-profit organizations, faith-based communities, and businesses to increase emergency preparedness and community resilience. Our experienced staff members are available to deliver informative presentations, educational programs, skills training, disaster preparedness literature, and information about volunteering.

Hands-Only CPR classes are held at the EOC on the 2nd Thursday of each month, and can be scheduled at your site at your convenience.

Training, Education, Activities, and Mentorship for
Girls Interested in Response, Leadership, and Safety
Nassau EM has launched a new opportunity for girls in grades 7–9. The immersive day-camp program will be held June 23–27 at the Emergency Operations Center.
EM's goal is to have women who have excelled in law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services, and emergency management teach valuable preparedness skills and inspire our next generation of female public safety leaders through interactive workshops, valuable skills training, real-world simulations, and personal mentorship.
The schedule includes first aid, CPR, firefighting basics, and other public safety topics, with scenario-based team training designed to build confidence and valuable skillsets.
Emergency Management is a proud supporter of Hands4Hearts.org and our nationally recognized Medical Reserve Corps unit #2678, the Nassau Co. MRC. When not involved in public health emergencies, Nassau Co. MRC volunteers teach Hands-Only CPR/AED skills and other classes free of charge as part of their Life Savers Initiative.
